This site exists as a resource for the kite community; it is young and needs to grow. However, it can only become a great source of information if visitors and other kites enthusiasts are able to post information and share comments and photos. So, in an effort to “help you help us,” we’ve got this little tutorial.

1 - Get an Account

First and foremost, to actively participate in the site you’ll need an account. If you already have you can Login here, or if not, Register here. Registration exists to allow you extra access to the site while preventing spam from polluting the pages.

2 - Posting Comments

Comments appear at the end of most articles, reviews, news posts, and pages. Let’s say you read a review and disagree with an argument the writer is making, simply Login and post a comment so others who read the review can see your critique of the critique.

Comments are an easy way to respond to or continue a dialog. And don’t worry about knowing HTML or other formatting procedures, you can do the basic editing–highlighting, bolding, italics, etc.–at the click of a button.

Go ahead, test posting comments below!

3 - Posting Photos

The Kites Too! Gallery is a place for everyone to post kite-related photos from Festivals, Club Fly’s, Competitions, or whatever you can think of. Again, the only way to post photos is if you are a registered user of Kites Too! Once you’ve registered at Kites Too! you can use that same Login & Password for the Kites Too! Gallery.

Keep in mind, however, that you will need to login to the gallery even if you’ve already logged-in to the Kites Too! site.

4 - Posting Events on the Calendar

The Kite Calendar is a great way to let people know about upcoming events, festivals, club fly’s, competitions, again, whatever event you can think of. Without registration, you can post an event, add a link and description, for any type of kite-related event. Make sure you choose the appropriate Category for the event, i.e. Kite Crafting.

Posting events is easy:

First click on a date or the “Add New Entry” link at the bottom.

Enter a brief description or headline, followed by the actual description. Choose whether or not it’s for the Public to see, choose a Category (by clicking the Edit button below the word Category), enter a general location, i.e. E Delta Park, Portland, OR, and choose the Date and Time. If this is a weekly or monthly event, you can choose to repeat the event by going to the “Repeat” tab at the top.

If you are the head of a Kite Club you can request a separate account which will allow you to create a web calendar specifically for your Club. This way you can start a calendar for Club-Use only while also posting Open Fly’s on the Public Calendar.

Let’s fly!
